Also spelled: Tralalero Tralalà

What it looks like

A shark standing upright on three legs, each ending in a white sneaker, usually set against a plain beach or open water. The extra limb is the joke, and the picture carries the soft, slightly wrong AI look that the whole trend is built on.

What the name means

Nonsense syllables chosen for rhythm. Wikipedia traces the phrase to the 2023 Dwayne Johnson meme, where it is simply a singsong line that gets rhymed with something absurd. Nothing in the name refers to a shark, or to anything else.

Where it came from

The audio came first. Wikipedia traces the nonsense phrase back to October 2023 memes of Dwayne Johnson rhyming absurd lines, then to TikTok user @eZburger401, who posted a video with the character in January 2025 and was banned shortly after. The Guardian reports the AI shark image was paired to the sound a few days later, and Wikipedia records a January 13, 2025 repost reaching seven million views.

Why it spread

It was first, and it set the format. Know Your Meme records early reposts climbing into the millions within weeks, and a phonk remix in late January 2025 carrying the sound into anime and soccer edits. The Guardian quotes Know Your Meme's editor saying the audio matters as much as the image, delivered in an exaggerated Italian singsong.

A note for parents

Wikipedia records that the account behind the original was banned soon afterward, reportedly over profanity in the audio, and that some Muslim users objected to blasphemy in it. That is why this site describes the character only and carries none of the audio, and why the app does not include this sound.
