Two competing designs. The first is a cat's head on a shrimp's body, which Know Your Meme files under the paired name Trulimero Trulichina. The second, described in the same entry, is a furry pot-bellied creature standing on two legs with a fish for a head, ringed by oversized mosquitoes.
What the name means
Nonsense syllables chosen for rhythm. Know Your Meme states plainly that the names are Italian-sounding rhymes with no literal translation, and the same goes for the paired name Trulimero Trulichina. The repeated stressed syllable is the entire joke.
Where it came from
Know Your Meme dates the earliest cat and fish hybrid video to January 28, 2025, posted on TikTok by @zanahoriatan33, and a separate Trippi Troppi sound to February 18, 2025 by @1raidex_. It puts the first past seven million plays in three months and the second past three million in two.
Why it spread
Ranking videos did the work. Know Your Meme records the trend peaking in March 2025 as creators posted tier lists of brainrot characters, one of which took 11 million views in three weeks, and Trippi Troppi appeared in most of them. The Guardian names him among the first characters adults are told about.
